Austrian designs luxury lederhosen line
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070824/ap_on_fe_st/odd_luxury_lederhosen;_ylt=At7LQzEhBi8mRHunM9SXNLgsQE4F
An Austrian designer is taking orders for personalized luxury lederhosen and recently sold a diamond-studded pair for $114,000.

Christian Wohlmuther, who owns a clothing business that sells traditional Austrian attire based in Bad Mitterndorf, Styria, said Friday the cost of his creations varies depending on the decoration.

Those interested can choose from an array of stones, including garnets, rubies, emeralds and diamonds, that are then mounted on buttons made either of sterling silver, gold or platinum.

"We generally focus on the client's budget and then show him what's possible," Wohlmuther said.

Wohlmuther, who works with a local jeweler in the Styrian town of Liezen, said his first pair of luxury lederhosen decorated with 166 diamonds went to a German buyer who lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, earlier this summer. He said he hopes to attract more interest from that region, as well as from Russia.

Lederhosen are traditional short, leather trousers that some Austrian and German men still wear today at festivals or special occasions.

School starts soon - Beware of Cyberbullies

School starts soon for students and they need to be aware of the dangers of cyberbullies and what to do about it. I am available to speak at middle, high schools, colleges and universities to students, school personnel and parents about cyberbullying, online social networking sites and much more. Just email me at netcrimes@netcrimes.net for more information about this.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT CYBERBULLIES

There are several avenues for action, depending upon who the cyberbully is and what the cyberbully has done. Victims do have recourse, and cyberbullies can be stopped, and sometimes even prosecuted for criminal or civil offenses.

ACT IMMEDIATELY! The longer you wait, the harder it is to successfully identify the
cyberbully.

IF YOU ARE RECEIVING DEATH THREATS or believe yourself or your family to be in immediate physical danger, dial 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY.

RESPOND ONCE to the cyberbully with a simple "Please stop contacting me." You do not have to explain yourself. After that, DO NOT ENGAGE IN ANY MORE COMMUNICATIONS WITH THAT PERSON. It is important that you do not communicate with the other person, and that you do not take any actions or have any conversation that will further provoke the negative communication.

CREATE AN “EVIDENCE” FILE/FOLDER. SAVE ALL MESSAGES AND COMMUNICATIONS.
Save everything -- whether you save the message itself to a special folder, print it out, or copy and paste it to a Word document -- even if you need to hit the “Print Screen” key to capture the communication. Do not delete text messages. Capture a digital photo! If live, try to record the conversation. Be sure to write down all of the details about that conversation:
WHAT type of communication was received...WHEN it was sent (day and time)...

WHAT the message contained (when you first read it. Simply make copies of future messages that you are ignoring!)...

WHERE it was sent from (sender’s screen name or phone number)...If you know, WHO sent it, WHO might have witnessed it...

and YOUR FEELINGS when you received the message.

PRINT COPIES of all messages. In Chat Room or Message Board, PRINT SCREEN and copy/save.

IF YOU HAVEN’T TOLD AN ADULT YOU TRUST YET, BE SURE TO TELL THEM NOW!
A parent, guardian, teacher -- someone! IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Let an adult help you stop what is going on, and to keep you safe. It’s the only way...

TRY TO IDENTIFY WHO THE SENDER OR CALLER IS.
Many times, the cyberbully is someone you know!
Try to identify the person based upon your relationship and their motive.
Try to make a list of names of anyone who might be angry with you, or generally dislike you.

Federal, state and local laws protect individuals and personal property from bias-based prejudice, slander and defamation, vandalism, sexual harassment, assault, and other criminal intent and actions. Check with your state's web site on the laws they have available there.

Psychics, Wii, Car Shopping, more

So. Something very unexpected happened on Wednesday night. I can't go into details just yet, but a big change has been made in my life - for the better. I am one happy puppy.

On Thursday, I had a private reading with the radio show psychic, Michael Gogger. He knew from the start that something big had happened the night before and nailed it. He is as spooky accurate as the tarot card reader I'd seen the week before. And he said pretty much all the same things she predicted/said. It was very eerie. He said he saw me going overseas, traveling a lot through the USA for work and probably relocating. He said he saw me as a broadcaster or hosting my own show (which would be way cool), that I needed to pay attention to my dreams, my health would be good, and that my mom was very happy with what happened the night before. And she was. She told me, "It's about time." He also said that something completely out of the blue, a surprise project, would be coming to me soon and it would be a lot of work, but would mean more money. Yay! He said the situation at hand would resolve itself by the end of this month/beginning of September. Maybe by then I'll post about what happened.

I got the bandages off my nose and it's still tender, but doesn't look bad. The doctor was very pleased and told me I was one of his favorite patients! He said my nose won't be back to normal for another five weeks.

When I played the tape for V2 that night, she was getting goosebumps.

On Friday night, Rob came over to play Nintendo Wii Golf with me and just hang out. The first two games were a tie, he won the last game. Darn! I have to practice more so that I can kick his butt.

Saturday, V2 had me go with her to a local Toyota dealership. She wanted to trade in her RAV4 for a less expensive SUV or car. So I was moral support. She ended up test driving a Matrix. She wasn't thrilled with it, but her car payments would be almost $200 less a month than what she's currently paying. She told the sales manager, who was trying to convince her to buy the Matrix, that all she wanted to do was refinance her current loan, but wasn't having any luck with that. He told her they could do the refinance. Geez! We spent all that time and didn't even think to ask about that.

We went to a mexican restaurant for a late lunch, had two margaritas, hit BJs to get gas for her car and pick up some things, then drove me home. I ended up taking a nap - those margaritas hit me hard.

I watched the movie 300 that night. What a totally awesome movie. I was blown away by it. And not just because of the six pack abs on the actors. It was a good story, great acting, super special effects. I actually cried at the end.

Sunday I caught up with a bunch of things, then Robin picked me up to go to V2's for her Southern Living At Home party. I ended up becoming a consultant. If I have time, I'll try to do some local parties, but I'll definitely be doing catalog parties. So if you want a catalog, email me and I'll send you a catalog. I'm just doing it more for fun and the extra cash. What the heck.

Talked with two friends, then hit the sack.

Today has been catch up with a bunch of things, then I'll probably go with V2 to the dealership for her refinance, then I have to go to a store in North Hampton to take care of some things.

Life is good. I haven't felt this happy in a long time.

Busy, busy, busy!

Did the radio show on Sunday with the psychic. He did a short reading of me at the end and the two things he said matched the tarot card psychic EXACTLY. One was that I needed to pay attention to my dreams, the other I don't want to post just yet. If it comes true, I am going to be floored.

Yesterday so many things happened: I was interviewed for an article about GPS stalking for a NJ newspaper. The Chief of Staff of the NJ General Assembly sent me a letter asking for help with a law they were introducing. I called him, we talked, I emailed some of the cyberstalking laws I've helped pass and they are going to try to get me to NJ to testify in person in November, when the legislature is back in session.

A victim wants me to be an expert witness for her case. Which means either a video deposition or actually traveling to where the court case is heard.

I'm going to be teaching, four, count 'em, four classes for a local Internet cafe. One about buying/selling on eBay, on about opening an account with Yahoo and taking advantage of all that Yahoo offers, one about social networking sites like Myspace and Facebook and the last about online dating. Those start on Mondays in October. If there is a big response, I'll teach twice a week through the winter. I'll post more when I have a firm schedule.

I got another booking, this one locally, for September. So I need one more to have the month booked up. Kents Hill School already booked me for September 22nd. Woo-hoo!

I drove down to Brookline (next to Boston) this afternoon to do a TV interview for CNN about that GPS stalking story. I hate driving to Boston. I always cross myself when I go over the NH/Mass border, ha ha. I got lost, had to call twice when I got to Kenmore Square for directions, finally made it. Filming took a half hour, the producer was great and I left him a book and my card for future stories. Crossing my fingers! I don't know when the story will air yet, but will post when I find out.

I am exhausted. But it's beautiful out and I'm going to take the dogs to the store to get some burgers or something to cook on the grill, relax with some wine and sit on the deck.

Tomorrow I'm meeting a friend for lunch at Strawbery Banke in Portsmouth, which should be nice and relaxing.

They radio show host I was just interviewed for IMd me yesterday. I just happened to be in my office checking my email when his IM popped up. He said he wanted to do a longer, private reading because his "spirits" are telling him there is much more to tell me. So that reading is Thursday morning at 1030 am. Should be interesting. I wonder if he'll say more of the same things the tarot card psychic said?

I watched "A Good Year" with Russell Crowe. I wasn't sure I'd like it. The story is that he's a wanker of a stockbroker who inherits a vineyard in France from a beloved uncle he hasn't seen in 10 years. His life unravels and he's forced to stay at the vineyard, meets and falls in love with a local woman in less than a week, and his life is transformed. Hey, it happens in the movies. You know it can happen in real life. When Chris and I met, it was fast, fast, fast. We just knew how we felt about each other right away. He proposed to me four months after meeting me. We were married for almost 20 years. So you do the math. I know that will happen to me again with someone. I hope it does. I miss not having someone around. And if it happens fast again, so what? Sometimes it's just like that.

It's never a dull moment around here, that's for sure.

Lazy Sunday

I did keep my hair appointment on Thursday and was glad I did. It was relaxing. I then had an appointment at my lawyer's office to sign some paperwork, then it was home again, ice pack on nose, pain pill in mouth. V2 came over and took me out for dinner at our favorite restaurant, Panda Sakura, at York Beach. We know the owners, the wait staff and the sushi chef, Jeff (not his real name, which is Chinese and too hard to remember). We sat at the sushi bar and told Jeff some bad jokes. Yes, I told the grasshopper one, but he didn't get it. He then told us a Chinese joke, which translated well:

Three men are stranded on an island. A bottle washes up and a genie appears. He tells the men he will give them one wish each. The first man says, "I want to become a fish so that I can swim home."

Poof! He's a fish and swims away.

The second man says, "I want to become a bird so that I can fly home."

Poof! He's a bird and flies away.

The third man looks around and sighs. "I really miss those guys. Can you bring them back?"

Drum roll, please.

We had a good time. After dinner, V2 dragged me to a psychic, a local woman named Paulina. She's Russian and V2 has been to her before. She does tarot readings, crystal ball readings and I decided on the 20-card Russian Tarot reading.

I shuffled the cards, split them into three piles and then pointed at one pile. Paulina started off with, "I wish you health, wealth and happiness," then laid out the first layer of cards.

She told me she saw women around me who were jealous of me. I would find out in September who my true friends were. Then she said something that almost knocked me off my chair and I don't want to post it just yet. I want to see if it comes true. As she laid out more cards, she kept talking. She wasn't really reading the cards so much as just knowing things. She threw me for a loop. She said I had some projects (the one I'm waiting for the contract to be signed), I was going to classes (I'm actually going to be teaching computer classes locally and had *just* gotten the contract in my email that day), I was having work done in my house to get ready for the winter (eerie!!!) and I should think of painting my living room a brighter color (which I had been thinking about doing). I was going overseas twice for pleasure (I have yet to see if that happens) and would be traveling all over the US (yep, for work). I would go down south a lot (I have two bookings in Virginia already). I would not be rich, but I would never be poor. I am an independent woman, but would never be alone, that I needed to have a man with me and I would (hmm). Others see me as confident, but I sometimes feel insecure (I do). I had three children around me who look up to me and would ask me for guidance. I needed to sleep on it before I advised them. I am guessing these are my two nieces and nephew by my stepsisters. And that a bloodline relative who died (not recently) would come to me in a dream and tell me something and I should listen to them and act upon it. The only person this could be is my grandfather, who died in 2001. We were close. Honestly, this woman scared the heck out of me with how accurate she was. There is NO way she could have known everything she did.

V2 had her reading done next and I listened for any similarities. The only thing was that she told V2 she would travel south a lot, too, for pleasure, though. And it's true - Charleston, SC is a second home to V2 - she's going there for Labor Day weekend and just got back from a trip there. But everything she told V2 fit her like a glove and was eerie accurate.

A woman who had heard my reading got to talking with us and asked if we'd stay while she had her cards read. We did. And we ended up making a new friend! Donna is from Concord, NH and she was scared throughout the reading, but kept looking at me with her eyes popping out of her head. This Paulina psychic was amazing.

The next day I caught up on things, rested on the couch, talked with friends, then Rob showed up to just have some beers and talk. He wanted to catch up with me. I hadn't seen him in almost two weeks. He's a sweetie! V2 came over to pick me up for a Southern Living at HOME party. We had a blast! She's going to host a party at her place this coming weekend.

Took Guin for a long walk to the beach yesterday morning - it was beautiful and cool outside.

Went back over to V2's last night for dinner, then home to talk with friends and then bed. I slept in until 8 am this morning, took Bandit and Guin out for our Sunday morning drive to pick up the newspapers, coffee and breakfast. After we had that, I walked with Guin down to the beach. It was a lot more humid today and we were sweating when we got back. Took Bandit for a quick spin around the yard, then came back in. I'm being lazy today.

I *am* doing a radio interview on the Your Inner Thoughts show today at 2 pm EST. If you get a chance, listen and call in.

Brokeback nose brokeback no more

I was a nervous wreck yesterday morning. I went on the treadmill for almost an hour to try to burn off the nervousness. Had a few more phone calls from people (one was a huge surprise, but I was glad I got the call), then Robin came to pick me up to take me to the hospital.

She works for the post office and they get a 2-hour lunch break, but work from 8 am - 530 pm, so it's a long day for her. We went to her house first to let her dogs out and talk about what's going on in her life, my life, etc.

She dropped me off at the hospital promptly at 130 pm. I had two magazines and a book with me. I'm glad I brought them. I had an EKG done; my previous blood work, which was done in late April for my life insurance, was accepted, so I didn't have to have blood drawn. I was weighed and it turns out I've lost over 40 pounds since Chris died. Wow.

Was asked to change into hospital jammies and put into my own room in the "Short Stay" (outpatient) area. Many nurses in and out. Very nice folks. Turns out most are from York and they all knew Robin from the post office. She's a celebrity at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, ha ha! The doc had asked me to bring in a photo of me, so I'd brought in my book cover photo. Everyone thought it was wonderful and they all said they were going to the local Barnes & Noble to buy my book. I have new fans!

The doctor came in, was very funny and said since all the operating rooms were occupied (by now it was almost 430, an hour past my original surgery time), he was going to do the reset in the recovery room. He called Robin to tell her he was running late (she said later she was shocked he called and not a nurse). I told him if he did a good job on my nose, he was getting a free copy of my book. Afterwards, I wondered if that was a good thing to do, ha ha.

"All I need is an anesthesiologist and me," he declared. I called him SUPER DOCTOR in a superhero like voice and he burst out laughing. I like him.

The anesthesiologist came in to introduce himself and injected some drugs into my IV. Yay!

I was then wheeled into the impromptu operating room and was given more drugs. Yay again! I told them all a really bad joke:

Grasshopper goes into a bar.

Bartender says, "They have a drink named after you."

Grasshopper replies, "Really? It's named Bruce?"

(drum roll please)

Then I was out like a light.

I woke up just as the doc was putting the bandages on my nose. I thought they were going to throw a party. They were all thrilled (by now the nurses had all come in) my nose slid right back into place. Hooray!

The post op nurse was a sweetheart. She and I talked for a long time about everything: Chris dying, my online dating experiences, our dogs, her house. She was wonderful. I was given apple juice, crackers and told to go pee. She called my mom to let her know I was okay and everything went well. My cell phone and wallet were brought back from the hospital safe and three messages were on it:

My sister
V2
Rob

Rob? Hmm. I called my sister to let her know I was okay, V2 also, then left a message on Rob's cell that I was in the hospital. I hadn't expected him at the house until today at the earliest. He sounded worried because he saw my car was home, the dogs were home, but my mom wasn't dogsitting.

How sweet.

I called Robin to come get me, talked with the nurse some more. I was still woozy, but not as bad as I thought I would be. She gave me a Tylenol w/codeine.

I was wheeled out to Robin's car. She took me to the drugstore to get more pain pills, then through Wendy's to get some quick din-din for me and the dogs (two cheeseburgers for them, a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings for me, french fries for Robin). Don't get the onion rings from Wendys. They were horrible.

She dropped me off at the house at 730 pm and made sure I was okay before leaving. Called my mom, talked to some more people, ate my dinner and went to bed before 9 pm.

Bandit decided to play doctor. He came into the bedroom every hour and bumped the bed to wake me up. I think he was making sure I was okay. I took him out a few times before realizing this. He finally let me sleep through for three hours straight when I had a little talk with him at 530 am. "Nurse" Guin slept between my legs all night, keeping me warm.

I woke up once, my nose was itchy and before I thought of it, rubbed my nose. OUCH! Took a pain pill.

Finally got up at 830 this morning, had my OJ and coffee, gave the dogs their cheese. Rob left me a note. On a large piece of wood. Silly boy. Wrote he hoped I was okay and was going to come by today or tomorrow. He staked my tomato plants in the garden for me. Hmm.

I have a hair appointment at 11 am. I was going to cancel it, but Robin and V2 encouraged me to keep it. After all, I'll just be sitting or lying back and won't have to worry about getting the bandages on my nose wet. Speaking of, they're flesh-colored and other than a little swelling the bruising going down from last week, I look almost normal. I am so relieved. If wiped out.

Brokeback Nose

Well. I went to the nose doctor yesterday and had to wait almost an hour before seeing him. Turns out he's a sweetheart, funny and very nice. He took one look at my nose and said I had definitely broken it and it needed to be reset, or in doctorese, "Closed reduction nasal fracture." Which means the hospital.

He was able to get me in today. So at 1 pm, one of my friends, Robin, is driving me to the hospital to drop me off. I need to have an EKG done and some blood work. I'm scheduled for the operation at 330 pm, but if the doc is ahead of schedule, he'll do mine earlier. Once I'm awake and have eaten something, they'll discharge me. The doc thinks by 5 or 5:30 I should be good to go. Either Robin or V2 or someone else will bring me home.

At least I'll be out like a light. The doc promises I won't feel a thing. I was dreading having my nose reset. People kept telling me they do it without painkillers. I was a nervous wreck when I went to the doctor's office yesterday. He made me feel much better.

I went home, made hamburgers on the grill for the dogs and me, chatted with some friends and my mom, then hit the sack early. Got up this am to do 30 minutes on the treadmill to try to work off my pre-op nervousness, drank my OJ and can't have any liquids until after the operation.

There's a friend I used to talk to all the time. I wish I could talk to him again. We've been incommunicado for a while. Maybe he'll read this and call. It would be nice.

Nose, Transformers, more

I did something sooooo stupid last week. It was late afternoon, I walked by Bandit's bed and stopped. He looked so damned cute in it. I knelt down to lean over and kiss the top of his furry little head, lost my balance and slammed the bridge of my nose in a table behind his bed. I had moved furniture around and wasn't sure I liked that table where it was at the time. Believe me, it isn't there anymore. V2 happened to be over, put me on my back on the floor while I was bleeding like crazy, bandaged me up, put an ice pack on me and gave me some wine to drink to calm me down. I was a mess.

The next morning I went to my chiropractor's office to buy some Traumeel cream for the swelling. They are a husband and wife team. Nancy took one look at me, said "Holy shit" and made me sit down. This guy who was (I think) a paramedic or something said I'd broken my nose. John, the husband came out, agreed, put some gloves on and gently inspected it. Nancy called the hospital emergency room and asked if I should come in. They said all they'd do is x-ray the nose and refer me to an Ear, Nose & Throat doctor, because nothing could be done until the swelling went down. The swelling wasn't too bad, but I was upset. Understandably.

John x-rayed my nose and it turned out it wasn't a bad break and may heal okay. Nancy made an appointment with an ENT for tomorrow afternoon just to make sure I don't need my nose reset. She gave me the Trameel (which is made with arnica and some other herbs), told me ice 20 minutes, slather the cream on and sit for an hour, then ice again for 20 minutes.

I laid low the next couple of days, icing, slathering, icing, slathering. V2 called many times to make sure I was okay. My mom called and I just couldn't tell her. I know she would say it's because I'm not eating enough (I'm not - I've lost a lost of weight and am down to a size 8, which I haven't been since high school) and chastise me. I'll wait until I go to the ENT before telling her. Oy. I did end up getting somewhat of black eyes (more red than black) and makeup covers that up okay. The swelling has gone down alot and other than the cut on the bridge of my nose, which I cover with a bandaid, I don't look too bad.

Yesterday I was depressed. V2 came over, tried to cheer me up. I know she meant well. and wanted me to hang out with her and one of our other friends for a "girls time," but I just couldn't. I took myself to the movies instead. I got there, looked at the movies playing and asked the girl what was available right then. She said "Transformers." You know, those toy vehicles that transform into robots that were so hot years ago? They made a movie about them. I thought to myself, What the hell? Why not? and bought my ticket.

That movie was a total frelling blast. I couldn't believe I enjoyed it so much. There were a lot of great moments where I laughed, cheered (as did everyone else in the theatre) and was in awe of the special effects. I had such a good time and when I left was in a much better mood.

Went to V2's for dinner and I did eat some food. Not much, but I did eat. She chastised me, but oh well. If I'm not hungry, I'm not hungry.

I came home, watched "Psych," which I taped on Friday, laughed my butt off and collapsed in bed.

I know I've mentioned before that something big might be happening. The contract is ready to be signed, but until it is signed, I still can't mention it. I can't WAIT to make this announcement when it's a done deal. It's a big thing for me and I am so excited about it.

Things have been going well for me professionally lately - this contract, loads of orders for my ghost books from the military, a booking, unexpected checks in the mail. . .it's been one helluva ride and I don't want to get off.
