A Polish couple in Portugal fell off the edge of a cliff while they were posing for a selfie. The couple was visiting the cliffs of Cabo da Roca with their children when they fell to their deaths, the Independent reported. The tragic accident occurred on Saturday, but emergency workers were not able to recover the bodies until Sunday because poor weather conditions impeded their search. A Spanish couple alerted authorities about what had happened after witnessing the fatal fall. The children, ages 5 and 6, are currently being cared for by Polish diplomats. Family members have been alerted and will be traveling to Portugal to deal with situation.

But according to a Vancouver-based women’s advocacy group, online harassment has a “hugely disproportionate impact on women and girls” and needs to be called what it is: cyber misogyny.

Judges in two federal cases last week ruled against an Arizona man accused of operating an Internet extortion racket that targets sex offenders across the country. Judges in Arizona and Michigan awarded default judgments to 11 plaintiffs in six states who filed lawsuits against Charles Rodrick, owner of a network of websites that used law-enforcement data to demand payments from people identified as sex offenders.

A 13-year-old girl’s science fair project to combat cyberbullying among teens secured her a spot in Google’s 15 Global Science Fair finalists. Trisha Prabhu, 13, of Illinois, created her project to test the prevalence of online bullying after making them take a minute to think twice about what they are about to post. Her theory was that younger brains are less developed than an adult’s, leading to more impulsive posting on social media.

A group of a half-dozen teenagers are awaiting family court appearances this summer after police announced the results of a wide-spanning “sexting” investigation, authorities said. Allegedly connected in a tangled web of text messages, hacking, and selfies, six teens from Woodland Park, West Orange, Little Falls and Totowa – all apparently known to one another – were charged with second-degree distribution of child pornography and fourth-degree possession of child pornography, said Sgt. James Briggs, a detective with the Little Falls Police Department.
