U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker ruled the law, which took effect July 1, was unconstitutional because it barred constitutionally protected speech -- specifically, taking photos of one's own completed ballot while casting a vote and distributing it "using social media or by any other means." The law, which carried penalties of up to 30 months in prison and a $10,000 fine, was challenged in a lawsuit from the American Civil Liberties Union.
