I couldn't make this up if I tried. . .Shotgun shells designed to take out 'drone threats'
http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2015/08/28/Shotgun-shells-designed-to-take-out-drone-threats/3601440785294/?spt=sec&or=on
An Idaho ammunition company is marketing "Drone Munition" shotgun cartridges designed to blast unwanted drones out of the sky. Ammunition company Snake River started shipping specially-made 12-gauge shotgun ammunition this month under the name Drone Munition. "Prepare for the drone apocalypse," the website for the "personal defense loads" reads. "With the ability to carry on board cameras, drones have been and are being used for spying on unsuspecting neighbors and others without their permission," the company said. "With little regulation surrounding drone use, there is much confusion about what a person may do to defend against drone threats." The company has faced some criticism from those who point out the illegality of shooting drones out of the sky under federal regulations. Snake River president Casey Betzold said the rounds are meant for self defense. "The self-defense portion of firearm use is what covers a real threatening drone situation," Betzold told Make magazine, "and we expect regulations to come down focused specifically on drones in the near future."

Cyber bullying, or “online bullying” has been making headlines for more than a decade. Typically, the term has been used to describe youths bullying other youths. A much overlooked, underreported issue is adult cyber bullying, which is an unfortunate reality because some adults are never able to grow up. Often, cyber bullying intrinsically involves cyber stalking -- the disturbing practice of monitoring every move and update on a person or organization’s online channels. These attacks can come from an individual, may originate from members of an online group, or can come from a real world group engaged in an online harassment campaign.

An Idaho man snapped pictures of a bear attempting to get into his home through a cat door but only managing to fit its head through the opening. Doug Harder of Sandpoint said bears have become a frequent nuisance at his condo this year and he first snapped photos of the animals when a mother and two cubs climbed onto his second floor deck to eat birdseed in late May. He said bear sightings continued in the area and a yearling broke into his condo while he was on vacation last week by opening the sliding glass door, which he had left cracked open with a piece of wood blocking the doorjamb. Harder said the intruder did very little damage to his property, but the animal defecated on the carpet and raided the domicile for food including flour, brownie mix, Toblerone and Pepsi. The homeowner said he went to investigate a racket at his door Thursday and was shocked to see a bear attempting to squeeze through his cat door. He said the animal was far too large to fit more than its head through the door. "It came to the cat door Thursday night, trying again and again to get through, which is when I took the photo," Harder told CNN. "My cat is in the photo on Friday, showing the width of the sliding glass door the bear squeezed through. It came back yesterday trying to get through the cat door again."

What exactly does Facebook mean by “community standards” when it chooses to take down – or not take down – a page reported by a user? An informal collective of women from Kerala, accusing Facebook of “mysteriously” allowing misogynistic abuse, has now launched an online campaign to find out. The group, called “Against Cyber Attacks on Women”, banded together after several women with leftist and feminist views became targets of online sexual harassment and had their Facebook profiles unfairly suspended in the past few months. Supported by a host of other women’s rights and digital rights organisations, the collective now wants Facebook to rethink its policies on tackling abuse and maintaining user privacy.

http://www.inquisitr.com/2350089/ohio-state-trooper-uses-craigslist-and-his-position-to-create-a-sex-stop-more-details-emerge/
Ohio state troopers, like other state troopers in America, are sometimes looked upon in a different manner than local law enforcement. Sometimes worse, sometimes better, but they often have bigger jobs to take on and certainly more of them. However, no state trooper or public official is above the law. In a day and age where citizens have growing concerns, or what some may call paranoia or conspiracy theories, about police, a story about Craigslist, a state trooper, and a sex stop certainly won’t quell those concerns. WLWT5 in Cincinnati reported that Ohio state trooper Bryan Lee used a combination of his position, Craigslist, and Facebook to stalk and sexually harass female motorists.

Over the past few years a growing number of social networks and online communities -- the likes of Facebook and YouTube among them -- have introduced, or in some cases have tried to introduce, a real name policy. The notion behind outlawing anonymity is that online harassment will cease. This, it turns out, is a myth, sociologist Katherine Cross tells The Conference in Malmo.

An Illinois engineer said he won nearly 1,000 Twitter contests in nine months with a bot programmed to retweet giveaway offers. Hunter Scott, an electrical engineer, said in a blog post he used the Python programming language to create a Twitter bot that identifies and retweets posts that call on users to retweet for a chance to win. Scott said the robot would also follow the person or company advertising the contest if the tweet called for it. The engineer said he won nearly 1,000 contests, with most of the prizes being generally worthless items such as customized images for gaming and YouTube profiles. "I won a lot of cool stuff too though, and getting mysterious things in my mailbox each day was pretty fun," Scott wrote in a blog post. He said the prizes he obtained included gift cards, movie and concert tickets, a free year of Spotify, a Kentucky Derby mousepad and a Godzilla prize package containing a hat and a shirt. Scott said the most valuable prize he won was a $4,000 limousine ride and shopping spree during New York Fashion Week, but he declined the prize because he lives in Illinois. "My favorite thing that I won was a cowboy hat autographed by the stars of a Mexican soap opera that I had never heard of," Scott said. "I love it because it really embodies the totally random outcome of these contests." Scott said he entered about 165,000 contests and won 984, meaning he had a "pretty miserable" winning percentage of 0.6 percent. "And before you report me to the IRS, yes, I reported and paid taxes on all of the winnings I actually accepted/received," Scott said. Scott said he has now reprogrammed the bot to retweet posts that purport to raise money for charity.

I couldn't make this up if I tried. . .Man accused of decapitating wife, dogs and self-mutilation leaves hospital for jail cell
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/08/02/man-accused-decapitating-wife-dogs-and-self-mutilation-leaves-hospital-for-jail/
A man accused of decapitating his wife and their pet dogs before mutilating himself has gone from a hospital bed to a jail cell. Phoenix police identified the man as Kenneth Dale Wakefield. Police say he was in a county lockup Sunday on $2 million bail after being booked on one count of first-degree murder and two counts of animal cruelty. Investigators say Wakefield killed Trina Heisch and their two dogs and stashed the bodies in a closet. They say he then gouged out one of his own eyes and cut off his left hand at the forearm. The grisly scene was discovered July 25 by a neighbor who went to check on Heisch and said Wakefield came to the door naked, covered in blood. It wasn't immediately clear if Wakefield had an attorney who could comment on the case.

https://www.journalism.co.uk/tip-of-the-day/tip-what-newsrooms-and-journalists-can-do-about-doxxing/s419/a565966/
Doxxing – the sharing of an individual's personal information by which to harass them – is a growing and particularly malicious trend in some darker corners of the internet. And journalists are often the target. Occasional online harassment is part and parcel of discussing contentious issues on social media, but having the same behaviour follow you home can leave victims feeling powerless and terrified. People who take issue with a story may find out the reporter's home address or contact information and send them anything from fast food deliveries and empty boxes to pictures of dead bodies and rape threats.

House Bill 238 allows some exemptions, such as for various law enforcement officers, the owner of a vehicle fleet or a parent tracking their child’s location. The bill is expected to go before the full House on Wednesday.
