I Wasn’t Prepared for the Horror Story That Is Online Dating While Black - 01/14/15
http://www.styleite.com/features/opinion/i-wasnt-prepared-for-the-horror-story-that-is-online-dating-while-black/
I try to remind myself that no one ever said online dating would be a wholly pleasant experience. There is an inherent awkwardness that comes with entering the world of swipes and algorithms, and it’s simply unavoidable. I grew up and into an era during which the Internet has basically informed much of my identity and sparked many of my most important relationships I’ve met some of my closest friends via sites like LiveJournal and Tumblr. And today, there’s no twentysomething I know who hasn’t met a bae or a jump off via some app or online service. So there’s no real sense of the taboo when it comes to dating online.

I couldn't make this up if I tried. . .Three Fourth-Grade Students Suspended after Plotting to Kill Teacher with Hand Sanitizer
http://mainenewsonline.com/content/15012382-three-fourth-grade-students-suspended-after-plotting-kill
Three grade four girl students have been suspended from their school as they planned to kill their teacher. These girls from Elba Elementary School knew that the teacher was allergic to anti-bacterial hand sanitizer and did not allow the item in the class. The girls made a plan to spread the sanitizer on many things with an intention that their teacher would touch them and die. They shared this plan with other classmates as well. A mother of one of the three girls came to know about the plan and shared with the school authorities. Parents of other girls said that they were aware of the plan, but preferred to stay quiet. After knowing about the plan, the school principal organized a meeting with the girls, their parents and the police. One of the students was of the view that they did not like the teacher due to yelling. She also affirmed that the entire class had problem with that particular teacher. Police has not filed any charges as the teacher remains unharmed. As per the juvenile laws of New York State, the girls must have committed a felony or misdemeanor and then they are charged. The police wanted to discuss the case with the youth court, but the school decided to handle the case internally, informed Chief Deputy Jerome Brewster of the Genesee County Sheriff's Department. Elba Superintendent Jerome Piwko said that the case has shocked them. "The District cannot comment on the specifics of this event, including discipline, as the information is protected from disclosure under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. The reports in the media and on social media do not accurately reflect the entire event", affirmed Piwko.

(Just remember, kids - you are NEVER anonymous on the Internet)
An Iowa woman is facing a harassment charge for having a box of cow poop mailed to her neighbors after they repeatedly complained about her dog's barking. Burlington police said Kimberly Capdevila, 51, sent the smelly package to neighbors Steve Rowland and Mary Eipert through website poopsenders.com after the neighbors repeatedly complained to police about Capdevila's dog barking during the past three years. "On Dec. 13, Rowland received a package in the mail from poopsenders.com," Des Moines County District Associate Court documents state. "Inside the package was a substance that was identified as animal feces. On Dec. 29, (officers) spoke with Kimberly Capdevila, who stated she had the package sent to the Rowlands because of the ongoing problems between the two families." Police said poopsenders.com, which offers deliveries of cow, elephant and gorilla poop through the United States Postal Service, did not break the law by filling Capdevila's order. The website says customers "may not use our service to threaten, constitute harassment, violate a legal restraint, or any other unlawful purpose. The customer agrees this is a gag gift, novelty service for entertainment only, and that is their only intention." Capdevila was cited for third-degree harassment and is due in court Jan. 6. The suspect told Burlington newspaper The Hawk Eye she did not intend for her neighbors to be offended by the package. "In no way, shape or form did I intend this to be anything more than a practical joke," she said. "I was given a website that I thought was anonymous. I thought it would be a funny thing to do to send it to my neighbors. "After all the problems we've had, I thought it would be a funny thing to do. I am sorry if they took offense to it. If they took offense, I apologize. I never intended to harass them. I look forward to having my day in court." Game company Cards Against Humanity mailed out 30,000 boxes of "literal poop from an actual bull" as part of a Black Friday promotion, but those boxes were sent directly to customers who were informed of what they were receiving.

Misogynist Trolls - 01/04/15
http://cjonline.com/blog-post/keri/2015-01-04/misogynist-trolls
I came across an anomaly and in the quest to research the behavior of sexist trolls, I found extensive writing on this topic by my new Twitter friend, journalist Cathy Young. "Because journalism and political discourse were traditionally men’s territory, a slur that targets a woman’s gender or sexuality is taken to attack her as an interloper. A below-the-belt insult directed at a male writer is just an insult."

In what has become an increasingly common phenomenon, a Milwaukee woman had to face having nude and seminude photos of her posted on the Internet in April as collateral damage of a messy breakup. Her ex, Keslin Jean Jacques, told her there was nothing she could do to stop him, according to a criminal complaint, because Gov. Scott Walker had not yet signed into law a bill aimed at outlawing the practice.

The attackers struck without warning during the hectic holiday season, pinpointing a target in our homeland from half a world away. It was your home telephone. And even though you quickly realized what the evildoers were doing telemarketing or even worse, scamming you felt powerless to make them stop.

Two journalists, Rania Khalek and Max Blumenthal, have become the target of death threats and online harassment from conservatives and Tea Party supporters for their criticism of the pro-Iraq War film American Sniper. Khalek wrote on Friday that she and Blumenthal had aired their grievances with the film, which they see as glorifying the U.S. invasion of Iraq and lionizing a bloodthirsty killer who boasted of his pleasure in gunning down some 160 to 250 Iraqi “savages” during the height of the war.

In a heart-wrenching letter posted to Tumblr on Dec. 28, Leelah Alcorn the 17-year-old transgender girl who apparently committed suicide after a long battle with her parents over her gender identity wrote that she hoped readers would hear what happened to her and try to “fix society.” But as the note began circulating more widely this week, the Internet’s self-appointed vigilantes have turned themselves to a less ambitious quest: “fixing” Alcorn’s mother, Carla, and her father, Doug.

Apparently, reporting on public comments by a student leader can be “cyber stalking” and “libel” at Brandeis University. Truth Revolt reporter and Brandeis University student Daniel Mael publicized tweets by Khadijah Lynch, a student leader, who said that she had “no sympathy” for NYPD officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, who were brutally murdered earlier this month.
